Meet Your 2009/2010 Board of Trustees
Tracy Cramer – President
I
became the President of the Ballroom Dance Club in May 2009,
producing the monthly newsletter for a couple years now, and my
husband, Bruce, and I joined the BDC in 2006.
Bruce and I have
three kids and three grandkids. All but our youngest live in
Central Oregon; our youngest is stationed at Eglin AFB in
Florida. We have two 4-legged babies, Jackson & Carlee. Jackson
& Carlee accompany me to work everyday where they have free
reign of almost 2 acres of Orchard. Since 2004, I have been
working as a Church Administrator for a small country church in
NW Modesto.
Bruce and I started
Ballroom Dance lessons in October 2005 after Joshua graduated
from High School and moved to Fresno for College. We attended
our first NYE Dinner Dance that December, and were quite humbled
that we really hadn’t learned as much as we thought we did, so
back to lessons we went. After learning a fair amount of the
basic patterns of many of the dances, we attempted the regular
dances for practice. Eventually we felt comfortable enough to
stay to the end. We still continue with lessons, as it is
amazing what you remember you used to know, and continue to
strive for self improvement.
We currently belong
and attend to many of the local Ballroom Dance venues; the
Ballroom Dance Club of Modesto, USA Dance – Modesto Chapter, the
Carousel Dinner Dance and the Forever Young Dance Club.
Through Ballroom Dance, we have made so
many wonderful friends in which have accompanied us in Dance
Cruises, Ballroom Dance Showcases, backyard BBQs and trips out
of town featuring Ballroom Dance in one way or another like
Heritage Days in Yosemite. My love of Dance has brought me
unforgettable memories and treasured friendships, and for this I
am eternally grateful and blessed.
Heidi Gomez - Vice President

Andrew Gonzales - Secretary
Andrew
Gonzales is married and is a professional computer programmer.
He volunteers with Knights of Columbus and Boy Scouts of America
as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He enjoys the outdoors through
camping and hiking as well as bicycling and swimming.
Occasionally, when not "cutting a rug", he likes cutting some
wood for woodworking projects. When not outdoors he enjoys
kicking back on the sofa to watch classic movies.

Steve Minshall - Band Chair

I was born in Glendale
California in 1957. I met my wife, Ann, while I was serving in
the US Coast Guard at San Pedro California. We were married in
Long Beach California in 1978. After living in Long Beach and
Klamath Falls Oregon we moved to Modesto in 1980. We have three
children, now adults, Mark, John and Paul.
I work as a Broadcast Engineer
with Clear Channel Communications in Modesto. My other
interests are; electronics, amateur radio, model airplanes, wood
working, metal working, drag racing, music, and, of course
dancing.
Ann and I began dancing Swing
around 2000 and started to get into ballroom dancing in 2003. I
broke my hip in 2003 and this limited our progress in dancing
for the next few years. I had a total hip replacement in 2006
and shortly after that we were able to pursue Ballroom Dancing
in earnest. In 2007 we went to Camp Hollywood and started our
venture into Lindy Hop.
My main dance interests are
Lindy Hop and Blues. Blues dancing is undefined but Ann and I
have experimented with Blues dancing based on Tango and hope to
develop that further in the future.
As Band and Music Chairman of
the Ballroom Dance Club I arrange for the scheduling of the
various bands to play for our dances (when we have live bands). I also
provide the music and equipment for our Friday, recorded music,
nights.
For my wife and me dancing has
become a big part of our lives, and we have developed
friendships with many nice people in the dance community. We
enjoy going to various dance events with our friends. Being
part of the Ballroom Dance Club has been a very fun and
rewarding experience.
